3 websites to help you get birth savvy

Let’s face it. There’s a lot of crap out there on the internet. Everyone has an opinion (and don’t we all know it) but sometimes they present those opinions as facts. Here are three tried and tested places that are a fantastic place to start when it comes to getting the info you need on birth.

  1. www.evidencebasedbirth.com - the clue is in the name! Their mission is to raise the quality of childbirth care globally, by putting accurate, evidence based research into the hands of families and communities, so they can make informed, empowered choices. They also do some brilliant fact sheets that clearly and simply explain the pros and cons of common birth related issues and decisions. If you’ve caught the birth info bug, this is a great place to start.

  2. www.aims.org.uk -  they campaign for improvements to the UK's maternity services, as well as supporting women and families directly through their helpline, and sharing information to pregnant people and health carers with informative books, Journal and website resources. A really wonderful resource, especially if you have questions about the care you’re receiving.

  3. Positive Birth Glasgow Facebook Group - now I’m definitely not claiming everything on here is fact, after all it’s still Facebook! But there are loads of Glasgow based birth professionals who are constantly sharing helpful info in here, as well as being a community for pregnant people to make connections and share tips and questions. Oh and you might even be able to pick up a freebie - there’s always something up for grabs on there!

At all of my Hypnobirthing Glasgow and online classes we’ll explore all sorts of resources and helpful places that you might find useful during your pregnancy - these 3 are my top places to start!
